Thursday

This was written for my new book, tentatively titled Rise From the Fall.

The book will have at least an album worth of original lyrics, some new, some already on here.

Verse 1:

It’s the same every day
that time between twilight and dusk
my heart slows down
I close my eyes
and think about you
until I feel your hand run across my back
the brush of your lips against mine.

Following the trail of clothes
you throw on the floor
laying on the bed
your eyes watching mine watching you
knowing every thought going through my head
all the parts of you I can’t wait to explore
knowing we’ve both waited for this night all week long

Chorus:

Cause Fridays are for friends
Saturdays for family
Sunday for God
Monday to Wednesday trying to get through the grind
But tonight, that’s when you’re all mine
and God knows, that’s why I love Thursday.

Verse 2:

There’s people out there who think they know what it’s all about
making grand gestures when all you’re looking for is someone to hold
waiting for that moment
when my eyes meet yours
and you know everything that’s in my heart
not because I told you
but because you know that it’s yours.

Taking my hand and leading me out that door
that one that lets me hold everything inside
but opens only when I feel your heart next to mine
always waiting for that moment
that moment when you’re mine
and I don’t have to share you anymore.

Chorus:

Cause Fridays are for friends
Saturdays for family
Sunday for God
Monday to Wednesday trying to get through the grind
But tonight, that’s when you’re all mine
and God knows, that’s why I love Thursday.

Bridge:

It’s not the night
it’s the moment
your eyes meeting mine
my hand around your waist
your breath on my neck
my heart in your hands
the only place I want it to be

Chorus:

Cause Fridays are for friends
Saturdays for family
Sunday for God
Monday to Wednesday trying to get through the grind
But tonight, that’s when you’re all mine
and God knows, that’s why I love Thursday.
