Cross That Line

Love songs weren't something I ever felt good about writing. I've been blessed to have people take words I'd written and turn them into songs of this kind. Still, it was never something I felt confident in displaying correctly in my writing.

I was asked to write this one. I asked several times for them to find someone else to write it, but they wouldn't relent. It was one cut away from the album, that's why it has a home here.

In the beginning, I gave it my best try, but I wasn't writing anything worthwhile.

It's times like these where God steps in and puts you in situations to experience or witness things that help you.

So after an evening out, I got home, and this work wrote itself in about 30 minutes.

I'd originally sold this one, but got it back and it's now going into my new book.

Verse 1:

A kiss away from changing everything we know
but is it something we’re ready for
moving to that place where us becomes we.

It can scare the strongest there is
and I know I’m not any better than them
but we can’t keep this dance going forever
and when I look in your eyes
I know I’m ready to give into you.

Chorus:

Your lips close to mine
the move we need just a breath away.
Hand in hand,
heart to heart.
We move in time while the rest of the world fades away,
lost in the moment
as we edge closer to each other
giving in as we cross that line.

Verse 2:

I know we’re both worried
where this might go
and what it may cost us in the end.

We both knew panic and passion were always destined to meet
but trust in this moment
and that I’ll be that love song you always wanted to hear.

Chorus:

Your lips close to mine

the move we need just a breath away.

Hand in hand,

heart to heart.

We move in time while the rest of the world fades away,

lost in the moment

as we edge closer to each other

giving in as we cross that line.

Bridge:

I’ll be here for you tomorrow
and every day after that if you let me.
Trust in what we’re afraid to believe in
but both pray we can be.

Chorus:

Your lips close to mine
the move we need just a breath away.
Hand in hand,
heart to heart.
We move in time while the rest of the world fades away,
lost in the moment
as we edge closer to each other
giving in as we cross that line
