Calling

Calling came from 3 things.

The first was a challenging time a good friend of mine was having with one of his children and what I could imagine his kid wishing he could say.

The second was remembering the things I had put my family through when I was his kid's age.

And finally was my faith and what I maybe would have said had I been smart enough when I was a kid to realize the mistakes I was making.

Verse 1:

Calling on you Father, is anybody home?
Need You to know I finally heard You,
Just sorry it took this long.
Now I know that You love me but I’m still a world away.
But I’m hoping You can help me, teach me how to avoid that fall.

And I know I hurt You, made You endure my rage
while I was running from my demons,
just trying to hide away this pain.
But its Your love I can feel
when no one else will say my name.

Chorus:

On my knees I’m pleading
waiting for the sun to rise
pray you’ll get this wind to change
push me in a new direction
where I can be the one You planned.

Verse 2:

I ran, I just kept running away
like the child who didn’t know what to do.
Always thinking they’d hold on
while You let go of me.

But You didn’t lose your grip
said it wasn’t too late to come back.
Shined Your light through that crack in the darkness
love enduring, giving me another chance with You.

Chorus:

On my knees pleading
waiting for the sun to rise
pray you’ll get this wind to change
push me in a new direction
where I can be the one You planned.
