This is another that came from a conversation. This conversation was with an ex-girlfriend of mine. We had a long conversation about what we thought of each other and while it was a great conversation and she is a great girl we broke up shortly after though we are still friends and both remember this conversation as one that showed us a lot about who we are.
What do you see when you look in my eyes
Is it life, love, liberty, or death?
What do you see when you look to tomorrow
Is it something that scares you to death?
If life is a pleasure
Then why is there pain?
And how do we get on like the rest?
I’ve seen grown men cry out
And women be strong
Life takes a turn
Then ends on a song.
What do you see when you look into my heart
Is there a passion that can be contained?
What do you see when you look into my soul
Is there a spirit that is strong enough to survive?
What do you see in a child’s smile
Do you see the innocence pure and true?
What do you see in the midnight sky
Is it peace and tranquility or emptiness and sorrow?
If life is a pleasure
Then why is there pain?
And how do we get on like the rest?
